BeefBut Better™
Spare Burger is a delicious blend of 70% responsibly-raised beef and 30% surplus vegetables. The perfect one-for-one replacement for all your favorite ground beef recipes.
Flavor
This is a burger-lover’s burger. Chef-crafted umami in a plant-forward option that doesn’t compromise on taste. In fact, the vegetables absorb the juices when cooked for an unmistakably beefy flavor.
What’s not to love?
Nutrition
Keep the good, make the rest better. 16g of protein with significantly less cholesterol, fewer calories, and less saturated fat than a regular all-beef burger.
Truly a better beef burger.

Impact
Less beef consumption and tons of surplus vegetables results in a significantly lower carbon footprint, while farmers get paid for more of their crops.
It’s a win-win-win.
And the best part...
Spare Burger cooks exactly like a regular burger and you don’t have to give up the foods you love the most.
The Crafting of a Better Beef Burger
If it seems counter-intuitive that removing some of the beef could create a better beef burger, it wasn't to Spare Food co-founder, Chef Adam.
Adam had a strong hunch that adding Spare Starter, our upcycled, umami-packed, farmer-approved blend of surplus vegetables to 80:20 Grass-fed ground beef would produce a damn good burger. Diners around the world know to trust him. We certainly do.
A 100% natural burger made with simple ingredients that looks and cooks like your favorite hamburger — only better, for you and the planet. Whether cooked on an open grill, a stovetop griddle or a flat top in a commercial kitchen, the result is always the same: juicy, beef and delicious.

Spare Burger is the brainchild of
At Spare Food we find more ways to use more of what we already grow and produce. More is a wonderful thing - and it already exists within our food system in the form of good ingredients that go unused. Simply using them means more flavor, more nutrition, and more ways to support the planet.
Call it repurposing, reclaiming or upcycling if you will – but for centuries it was just called cooking and eating. We love the sound of that!
